A step-by-step look at biometrics

Learn about where and how to give biometrics when applying for a visa, study or work permit.
Starting between September and December 2013, Citizenship and Immigration Canada is collecting biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) from citizens of 29 countries and 1 territory who apply for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit.

The process is fast and safe. Applicants’ privacy will be protected, and all biometric and personal information collected will be handled in line with Canada’s privacy laws.

More information about biometrics, including whether this affects you, is available on the CIC website at: www.cic.gc.ca/biometrics
