AMVL Team Building in Malaysia | AMVL Migrations
AMVL Migrations in Australia and Kitson Migration in Malaysia have worked together for close to 7 years. The association between the two firms has allowed AMVL to be represented in Malaysia by professionals who have local knowledge and resources. Overall it has been a very successful collaboration.
Since the Kitson staff members have all travelled to Brisbane previously, we thought it was time for the AMVL staff to travel to Malaysia. We decided to make it a team building exercise with our Kitson partners, and this meant doing something to challenge ourselves.
The first challenge we considered was climbing Mt Kinabalu. At over 4000 metres in height, it is the highest mountain in Malaysia. However it was decided that this was a bit too challenging for some of us so, to include as many people as possible, we chose to go to Langkawi Island instead. We set out a few different activities and people could decide what suited them best. One of the most challenging tasks we set out to complete together was going on a high ropes course. I personally have never done anything like that and while I am very proud of myself that I made it, I won’t be rushing back to do another one. I think everyone discovered something important about themselves whether it was perseverance, working as a team or pushing through their fears, we all came out very happy at the end.
After the weekend on Langkawi, the AMVL team spent 2 days in Kuala Lumpur visiting the Kitson office and seeing how they do their work. During this time, we also incorporated presentations from members of the Australian and Malaysian team and had time to get to know our Malaysian colleagues a bit better.
I stayed on after this and presented seminars in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu, the first two with state government representatives from NSW. It was therefore a successful business trip as well as a great team building exercise.
The weekend turned out much better than any of us could have expected. We all learnt a lot about each other and the importance of working together to achieve something great. Whilst we live and work on separate continents, the bond between the staff at AMVL Migrations and Kitson Migration has never been stronger.
