APPLYING FOR VISAS AND PROOF OF ONWARD TRAVEL!? | BASICS OF BACKPACKING #4

Today we will discuss how to apply for a visa and also how to get around “proof of onward travel” when you don’t know where you want to go next!

Some countries may allow you to apply online such as Australia and your visa is electronic. With Australia and NZ you do not need a visa to be placed in your passport. Once the immigration officer scans your passport at the airport, it will come up on their system. Easy!

Others may offer visa on arrival so check to see how much money you will need to take to the airport and in which currency. You will then queue to pay for a short stay visa once you arrive which shall be put in your passport.

Others may have to place the visa into your passport (normally longer term visas) before you arrive. This is where you have to send your passport to the embassy and have them process your visa and send your passport back to you.
